The Break in the Clouds – Day 2 of 30

Today looks to be another day of a positive mindset on the road to recovery. Potatoe and I began our morning with a 6 AM run to take advantage of the rare 65 degree weather in Houston in late May. The kitties are all super playful this morning, they ran around the house chasing one another until I let them outside to enjoy the cool morning.

Potatoe is now snuggled under my desk for his morning nap, and I am drinking my first cup of coffee while I catch up on the latest news and work on my blog. I tried to ration my coffee grounds and make more coffee with less grounds. The coffee is good. It would compete with some of the mid-quality coffee in our local restaurants, but it is not as strong as I like it. I may need to break down and buy an electric coffee grinder. I use a hand crank coffee grinder. I like the grounds to be coarsely ground, and most electric coffee grinders grind the coffee beans into powder. My hand coffee grinder makes perfectly coarsely ground coffee. It just takes a bit to grind the coffee.

There is news of more progress on the reopening of our economy. Even California has began to reopen most of its counties. There has not been reports of a second wave or new outbreaks. Some media stations remain extremely focused on virus coverage, while others have started to give attention to other topics. The market is set for another rally on the positive news of states heading down the road of recovery.

One thing that worries me is the tensions with China. It is more like tensions with China and the rest of the world than tensions with China and the US. The latest is major protests continuing in Hong Kong. There is a conspiracy theory that the Chinese government created and intentionally released the virus on its own people to end the protests, not realizing how quickly the virus would spread through out the world. I do not believe this, although it is notable that the virus did end the protests for a time. I do believe that China failed to share its data on the virus, and they looked to profit from the manufacturing and hoarding of critical medical supplies needed to fight the virus.

I pray for world peace, and I pray for the end of communism. Freedom is a word that has been on my mind so much lately. Whatever happens, if I have my freedom and opportunity in a capitalistic society, I will find my way. This brings me an inner peace. There has been a blanket of uncertainty and worry over me for weeks, and while I appreciate that so much uncertainty still looms, I feel lighter; I feel hopeful.

I can see a ray of hope breaking through the storm clouds that have hovered over us for too long.
